“No more paperwork!!” oh how I have to think out of the box?

Writing on paper or whiteboard was becoming “boring” as my grade 1 mentioned to me as soon as the task had to start. So……… Mom has to think on her feet.
Let us do it differently today.
“We are going to write on the floor tiles with whiteboard markers”.
Both my boys stared at me as if they wanted to say “What? Really?
Are we allowed to write on the floor? Are you sure?” Obviously my younger one’s first response was “who is going to clean it?” So I started writing on the floor. “Yes, it is allowed, it is going to be fun and cleaning it will be even more fun!
We did sounds for reading on each tile. He had to jump on the tile and read the word. We wrote sentences and drove with a car on the path to read the sentence.
We did maths on the tiles, writing-counting in 2’s and jump on the tile and count.
We did bonds of 9 on the tiles. All the answers involved jumping to the next answer or rolling on the floor to the correct answer.
We did the maths concept on the tiles “before” and “after” and made it into a Simon says game. Stand on the tile number 39, jump on the tile before 39, now jump on the tile after 39. We had such fun. (Even my grade 5 started writing his English words on the floor tiles.)
We took a picture for his teacher and posted it on Teams. Work done! Concept retained! We had fun!
Now, for cleaning the floor and what is better than music and dancing with a cloth under your feet. Luckily whiteboard markers wipe off easily, but if you struggle just add a little tile cleaner under the cloth. Remember, kids, unlike us, enjoy the floor-mop, the vacuum cleaner, the window cleaner. So use all these tools for the cleanup. They will have fun cleaning it all.
“I like to move it, move it, I like to move it, move it”
Writing is fun!!
